Philippine sultans bid to reclaim lost kingdom - 08 Feb 08

For hundreds of years, Muslim sultans ruled the southern Philippines and the northern part of the island of Borneo.

They leased their land to the British in colonial times - and the territory is now divided between Malaysia and the Philippines.

But as Marga Ortigas reports from Sulu, the descendents of the ancient monarchs have not given up hope of one day reclaiming their kingdom.

i'm sabahan and my ancestor origin from mindanao islands, but i don't want sabah takes by sultan sulu..it's quite annoying and we're not let that happen..even once in the rest our lives..they don't have a strength to develop this state..go away, don't claim sabah is your territory again..i'm happy to be malaysian..yours only doing this things to get more money and power..but in knowledge thing and the way u thinking, backward. u all have nothing..

@b3rnard7 Yes it was once Sulu empire and On September 12, 1962 The Sultan of Sulu CEDED ALL THEIR CLAIMS TO THE PHILIPPINE GOVERNMENT. The cession effectively gave the Philippine government the full authority to pursue their claim in international courts. And whatever the people of Sabah say, SABAH IS STILL THE PROPERTY OF THE PHILIPPINES! Get over it! VIVA PILIPINAS!
