Knee pain can result from many conditions. Among athletes, common injuries arising from overuse include inflammation and irritation of the patella or quadriceps tendons from poor patella tracking. Other causes of common knee pain stem from injuries that strain or tear ligaments. Meniscus damage and arthritis are also major contributors to knee pain. Each of these conditions have their own well-established treatments that include rest, icing after athletic use, anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy and training, or even surgical procedures. Proper diagnosis of the source of your pain is vital to creating a treatment plan to reduce pain and improve function. Your professional medical provider has the tools and expertise to diagnose and develop a treatment plan for your specific condition.

KT Tape has been helpful for general knee pain, regardless of its source, through its ability to provide support without limiting mobility. KT Tape queues large muscle groups like the quadriceps to do their job in supporting knee movement. By creating surface tension on the skin over the area needing support, KT Tape creates a light, comfortable support structure that relieves pain and restores mobility.

  • Hi there, I have just ordered some kt tape to help me recover from my knee aches, I would like to know what type of taping to use.

my aches are on the left hand side of my left knee(also lower left side of the knee) , the pain occurs whenever the knee is bent (wether it be while i am running or just some squats) and the pain fluctuates from time to time.

Please could you tell me what kind of taping method i should use to help me recover at a greater rate.

  • @pandyasohil Based on your description I'd recommend you try the video titled 'KT Tape: Patella Tracking and Runner's Knee'. Sorry I can't link to it- Youtube doesn't allow links. Let us know how it works for you. Thx.

  • I have anterior knee pain and I can stop me from running so would this taping method help?

  • @madbuf Can you tell us what movements cause the pain? What type of pain? Acute or overuse?

If it's patellar, then we'd recommend the full knee support application. If it's something else, more info needed.

    Thx.

  • Thanks for the great post!

  • Pink for you

  • does it matter what color?

  • @njeurowise No... you can't lay the piece down and then lift it up again... I just tried and it hurt more than my knee pain... lol Just put it on the first time with the Y...

  • will this work on hairy legs? (serious.)

  • who can do Kt-taping? can doctors do it? just a qeustion

  • I wish you would teach the models how to use and apply the tape prior to making the videos. By touching the adhesive, the tape doesn't stay as long as it should.

  • I tried this yesterday and the tape didn't stick, it fell off. I'm very disappointed cause I was in a lot of pain.
