One of the few licensed NES collections, and a great game at that. We're getting close, so tomorrow and the next day expect extremely good games!

REVIEW:

Some may disagree for this as my third choice, but I still think of it as one of the best in the NES library. DK Jr's cool, but what really takes the bomb is Donkey Kong, in all its 8-bit glory. It's just missing the second level...What a shame. But anyway, you'll spend hours on this masterpiece, and it's a very good port at that. Jump barrels, flatten fire balls, climb ladders, awesome stuff. But to truly master this game it takes skill, because although the 3 levels repeat endlessley, things don't get easier. Think you have great timing and reflexes, and willing to give yourself a nostalgic blast to the past? Pop in Donkey Kong. Check out JR while you're at it, too.

  • The greatest thing about this game is that it is neverending as far as I know. I can't find anyone else who can make it into the letter stages so I don't know if it eventually ends or there's a kill screen, if you go back to stage 1 after z or what happens.

  • @Luigi84289 That's one reason I love it so much. Almost every game in the Golden Age of Arcade Gaming was like that. Then SMB came, and everyone was interested in beating a game. Things got more advanced, with sidequests, minigames, etc, but the goal was the same, 100% complete it, and you're done. But games like Centipede, Dig Dug and Donkey Kong aren't like that. There's endless entertainment because you play to get a high score. Virtual Console reviewers on Gamespot etc don't get it.

  • UHG Good I didn't know Double D was doing this review...

  • @theguyonthepenny64 Wow, first of all, the fact that you would reference such a juvenile and stupid show. That really says a lot about how old YOU are. I'm 14, and to know what Ed Ed and Eddy is you couldn't be much older. Secondly, do you honestly think I can help what my voice sounds like? That I can change the rate at which my balls drop? It's like posting a comment to a video of a black person vblogging and saying, "I didn't know Mr. T was doing a video." That's just not cool.

  • I disagree, it's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.

  • @PsiPaula4 Donkey Jr is tougher. Just use a game genie.

  • I tried Donkey Kong...but it was hard to me. Like you, I perfer easier games. But I never played Donkey Kong Jr. before.

  • Honestly, I really don't like Donkey Kong, and this is just my opinion on it. It's way too short and there's nothing to do except gain points. To me I find that very boring and it just doesn't stand up to the test of time. It's primitive, the controls aren't smooth, and it's really not very fun to play. Sure, kill about 10 minutes of time, but other than that it's garbage. Still I like how you have your own list, and I enjoyed watching the video, regardless. 5/5

  • the music was pretty good, not at the same level of super mario, but it was very addictive ^^
