Excellent reminder of what is really happening here: Instead of using their very real power to affect social change, politicians instead are backpedaling on equity and shaking their fingers at the schools. I hope Obama and Hillary see this.

I agree with tages1980. The only way to close all these gaps have to be through education. Without an education, you will make less money, you will have a higher unemployment rate, you cannot afford a house in a safe area, and you will not be able to afford health care (changing now). The incarceration rate and the murder rate are linked, since most of the murders are black-on-black crime, so locking up career criminals will actually make black neighborhoods safer.
