Here's the new crosscut sled that I made for my old table saw. Loosely based on a plan that I found at finehomebuilding.com. I love it. It has a full 24" crosscut capacity.

  • Why would you waste time constructing a plywood blade guard ?

Just screw on a couple of pieces of 4"x2" to the fence where the blade cuts through, does the same job without messing about.

  • @murrmac that's a good point. would be much simpler. thanks for the tip.

  • looks nice....but it sounds like it drags somewhat...maybe some waxing on the tablesaw might help?

  • @besamemucho5 I've just noticed it beginning to have some play back and forth. Just a little bit. Probably time for new runners or a whole new sled. Still, probably the most useful thing in my shop.

  • Used these in shops for years. Making the guide rails from the engineered plastic found in catalogs like Rockler etc. will reduce the friction and wear.

  • @urgonnah8this you might be able to buy more time with the sled if you do as I did and wrap some masking tape around one or both or the runners. My sled has been serving me for over ten years, and I just can't bring myself to throw it out (although I should ) ... It 's a bit of an "agricultural" solution, but it's quick and easy and it does work. You might need to take a sharp scraper to the runners first if you have previously waxed them.

  • I added 3/8 washers to the rails to stop the sled tipping at the end

  • Is your sled's body sliding on the saws table or just on the guides?

  • good guide ... can you send me the manual via email?

  • oh i thought u were making a sled that u use on snow ... whoops

  • @besamemucho5 nice sled, but it looks too big for your tablesaw. do you have trouble when you reach the end and it tips down? or do you guide it with a catch table, or roller guide?
