The last time Massachusetts entrusted the Governor's office to the Democrats, one-party rule didn't work out so well. Massive tax hikes coupled with cuts in local aid and services and the budget gap created by a decade of runaway spending still could not be closed. There are consequences to one-party rule.

@AnimalHouseVetVideos except that no one payed 91% back then NO one that was before kennedy closed the offshore tax havens the effective tax rates one people making more than 10 million never passed 20.6% of their income even when capital gains taxes were 40% it just meant that less people bought stocks. the poverty rate didnt fall to modern levels until Kennedy slashed taxes and closed loopholes.

Massive tax hikes are awesome. Return to the 1950's levels with a 91% top bracket, if you ask me. Our economy was booming then.

@starVol Lets not forget Sen.Ed Muskie in 1972 who was the front runner for the democratic nonmination ,who after finding out that some reporter wrote unflattery things about his wife broke down and cried ( like a baby) in a snowy New Hampshire campaign stump, DOOMED his chances !

Funny how one defining moment can pop up and absolutely "Tank" a campaign. With Dukakis it was this commercial with his riding on the tank. It just made him look like one huge doofus. With that little wienerschnitzel, Howard Dean, it was that silly scream.
