OS Exploration #3: Windows ME

Windows ME (Millenium Edition) has been panned as the worst creation form Microsoft ever, as it was filled with many bugs and crashes but featured the first appearance of the three new programs: Image Preview, Windows Movie Maker and System Restore. However, Movie Maker 1.1 really sucks... you can't do much on it and according to Quadunit404, you can't have it opened for more than five minutes. Also shown are the Desktop Themes that were already installed and were also featured in Windows 98.

While WinME didn't crash at me at all, it did do that to me once when shutting it down days ago, where I got a program error dialog about "Mmtask".

I have an old Compaq Presario 5000 series PC running Windows ME and I think its fun to boot it up and mess with the old O.S. i used to play Unreal on. Thats all I would use it for though. ME is pretty unstable.

I WATCHED this with Windows ME, Firefox 8 + KernelEx and it's faster than XP.

@mapmaker909 I'll take your word for it ;) but if you ever have too many errors to bear for whatever reason (though usually it's oh I don’t know, pirated software cracks etc.) you should reinstall, it'll run like a charm too.

Used ME for like 5 years, never really had a problem with it, some DirectX involving programs crashed sometimes and the system32 wasn't well protected from misuse. The real problem with ME is that at the time a proper free antivirus didn't really exist.
