Rude awakening- UWI Mona; Hall Orientation

A documentary film about hazing/ragging on the Mona Campus of University of the West Indies. It was quite an eye-opener working on this film. I hope you'll find it just as interesting.

Thanks to everyone who worked on this project with me;directing it was no easy task.

This is a biased documentary that doesn't show the positives of orientation. I DO NO RECOMMEND THAT WHAT IS SEEN IS GIVEN MUCH THOUGHT! In order to effectively and fairly criticize something one has to show where one considered the possibility that what they initially thought could be wrong. Very appalling that someone sat down and edited this.

Get over urself @ all who complained. I believe grubbing serves to take newcomers off any high horse they ride into the institution on and helps them to develop a thick skin. Abuse is different.

I am in upper 6th n i am determined to make some ppl swim on topaulin n roll up a hill tomorrow at our orientation :)

I TOTALLY DISAGREE UP TO THIS DAY WITH THIS VIDEO!!!

I personally have been through Orientation Induction and I enjoyed every moment of it. Initially it seems like 'military school' but after the process is complete, you get a full understanding of what was going on and why they put you through it. You learn to build a relationship with your fellow students and to tolerate each person for who they are. Also you learn the history of the hall and their ways, also for the university as well.

Grubbing is optional. Those who do not wish to participate do not have to. I went through it. Yes it was rough but there was so much that I learned from it. Disappointed in the Seacole Hall for doing this.

Damn I went through this but I don't think I was hazed..... I was never touched or anything like that... I don'r know what happens on the other halls. It was fun actually.... a good laugh after it was done. We never swam in the grass!! I did not now these things were happening.. They never hit anyone on my hall...and yet they say we are the worst.

The halls are made up of SORORITIIES & FRATERNITIES. These groups are like secret societies. After seeing what the programme is about it is the choice of the individual to participate or not

Secondly the, the university has taken actions that have effectively "watered down" hall orientation and induction programmes. So significant is this impact is the reason why you will hear ppl say they njoy the programmes on hall.

Thhirdly, people dont have to be inducted to participate in hall activities.
