Srikanth was the sehwag of 80s but viru is far more consistent than Srikanth.

Thanks for this. It's a bit of a puzzle where he got all this power from. He's not a big dude like Botham or Viv Richards. I remember him sometimes hitting impossible sixes with hardly any backlift and no footwork. Certainly not a boring player.

I know we have foxtel now, well I don't, but I used to miss the old Channel 9 highlights packages of each day's play that used to be on late each night of a test or ODI, which is what I assume this is from Rob. Half hour for interstate tests and the full hour when they used the pull the old no live coverage till 3.40 bullshit for home city tests. Seriously good knock, that last four down the ground, sweet. Pity about the Reid injury when Mo Matthews bolts in to celebrate the wicket.

Thanks Rob for a wonderful video! Srikanth had elastic wrists, better than Azar or VVS. Some of the drives off Bruce Reid were stunning. And thanks to the video, a very young Steve Waugh was seen too! Once Srikanth was seen playing Bruce Reid without helmet! Some guts!

one thing can be said for sure whenever srikanth scored India won.

@robelinda2 Thanks for the info. I guess, there's no humidity or pollution to damage the VHS tapes or VCR.

They used some skinny bats back then.

@randomspider lol, he is the pioneer of Pinch hitting in ODI cricket, what comparison are you making between players of two different era's... he entertained as good as any other cricketer period
-
@randomspider i'm not a big fan of Srikkanth but i think he was better than Sehwag especially against the short ball.
I remember for some reason, Doordarshan (Indian state tv) at that time, did not show the Test series on tv. Just had be content with Radio Australia commentary on AIR or RA.
BTW, you managed to preserve these video's on VHS all these yrs??? WOW...thanks for the upload...:)
