Recently I heard about a company where a genius idea for creating good will with current customers came from the accounting department. An employee noticed that the company sent out dozens of invoices each week, and most of the page was blank. Why not use that blank space to engage customers? So they began printing links to white papers, social media sites and blog posts in that space, and their response rate skyrocketed. Instead of being bummed about getting an invoice, their customers felt like they were receiving valuable information every time they were billed.
