The Chordettes were a popular female singing group in the late 40s and 50s. One of their biggest hits was Mr. Sandman in 1954. This song reached the Billboard Top 100 in 1956. The Chordettes appeared on the first episode of American Bandstand in 1957. Probably their best-known hit was Lollipop which hit #2 in 1958.

  • This hit by The Chordettes hit #5 on the Top 40 charts and #8 in the United Kingdom. It would finish at #37 for the year, 1956. And the hits are getting bigger.

  • Well I love this song as much as the others do! I was born in 1951 and loved this track always!! Thanks for posting it to YT...

  • Wow even my dad was very young in 56 (one year old)!

  • I actually ENJOY crying on my keyboard nightly, as I investigate the latest uploads designed to pierce the hearts of Boomers. . . and, of course, bemoaning that "they just don't write songs like that any more," [conveniently forgetting my adoration for Doo Wop, hardly a "sensible" genre.]

  • I still love this song after all these years. It really takes me back to a time I loved so well.

  • I was working outside on a very hot day in victoria b. c., sweat pouring down! Along the waterfront comes a handsome dude with his gorgeous girl friend in a long convertable and the radio was blaring out this song. I started to turn green with envy and When I hear this haunting song I`m right back in 1956 slaving away and jealous as hell !!
