AERIAL SPRAYING
Aerial spraying of pesticides has long been opposed by some health experts and environmentalists for hazardous and potentially fatal effects on both humans and the environment. However, the practice is still rampant in Davao, one of the Philippines' leading banana exporters. Plantation owners show no sign of discontinuing this dangerous practice even as residents and farmers living near the farms complain of sicknesses that could be linked to aerial spraying. Some are even said to have traces of chemicals found in their blood and urine. A study done by experts and commissioned by the Department of Health has recommended its total ban. How can aerial spraying continue despite this prohibition?
