Filmed by artist Mauricio Ortiz, this short clip shows the 10ft fibreglass Gibson guitar replica designed and painted by Mauricio for the Gibson Guitar Town London 2007 exhibition. Mauricio collaborated directly with Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant on the concept. Titled 'Armes Prydein', the work is Mauricio's interpretation of various elements of the 'Dreamland' album cover imagery incorporated onto the 'weathered' metallic surface of this mammoth instrument, which has sunk to bottom of the ocean - as heavy metal does when lured by the sirens - and is gradually being claimed as a home by the sea-life.
The completed artwork was sold at auction for charity (The Prince's Trust, Nordoff Robins Music Therapy and Teenage Cancer Research) on 20th November 2007 after having been shown on London's South Bank 'More London' space for three months and viewed by millions of tourists and Londoners alike. Photos of this outdoor exhibition can be found all over the internet. Of the 62 guitars auctioned that night, 'Armes Prydein' by Mauricio Ortiz (lot 58) fetched the 7th highest price with £5640 / $11,695.08.
