I'll admit that what i gave was a gross oversimplification, but if you are interested in reading up on FME, you should read articles from Walter Block, who has written hundreds of pages worth on this issue. Or you can find them here on YouTube.

  • @Bluestarhand If this is true, then FME is incredible stupid. If I have 1 square meter of ocean, I will keep fishing them completely empty, since fish will keep on swimming in and out from all sides. You can not contain areas in an ocean!

(Besides, anything that a private company can, a public company can do too. Probably even more efficient due to scale-advantages.)

There is a logic within free market environmentalism (FME) to explain the danger of overfishing. The logic was that if an area of an ocean was privately owned by a fisherman, it would be in their interest to sustain the population of fish in their area, or else, he can't sell the produce. However, if the area held under government hands, and leased to another company, then they won't care and overfishing occurs. Similar logic is applied to cows, since they're not extinct.

  • The fish argument is not a good one. He gives one example where fisherman took care about the fish population in a liberalism environment. But how do you explain that in almost every case in the world, overfishing is endanger these species with extinction.

  • Nice to see these ideas presented to an audience in Kuala Lumpur.

  • this is wonderful!!!

give me freedom over welfare !!!
