The Richard Farina acclaimed book "Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me" was adapted by Paramount Pictures into a movie in which a significant portion was filmed at Allegheny College Meadville Pa. in 1970. This segment features filming at the Phi Delta Theta House where the Rush Chaiman played by Bruce Davison is trying to rush Barry Primus.

  • @Robert11xyz robert you know internet nerds, man. we cna find anything.

  • There is a song in this movie sung by Gene Pistilli called "Little Boy Lost". Do you have it? If so, would you mind posting it? It is impossible to find anywhere else

  • I'm intrigued by the comments that I've read re. this clip. I never read the book; I saw the film 'way back when it came out. My school had a lunchtime trip that they called "College Hour" and the AS showed it. It was free, so what the heck? Actually, the high point, as I recall, was when a few men and women streaked the event...

  • good lord, this is NEVER how i pictured the book while I was reading it. Fascinating to see a whole other vision of it.

  • I hope I'm not alone when I wish they give this book another try on the silver screen. I think that a clever writter could do a lot with the whole internal dialogue thing from the book and keep more of the origonal atomaspher.

In a strange way, I actually really identified with Gnossos but as someone on the other side of the 60s, where that kind of free thinking has once again become largly unnaceptable.

  • I've never been able to find this film, though the book, IMO, is a minor masterstroke of biting genius. My kingdom for a full upload of this one.

  • I don't believe someone actually posted this!! I produced this picture in the mid sixties. Didn't make a dime. I always say that if both of my sisters would have seen it, it would have made that dime. Thanks for the meories!!

  • @jonhluk - Oh ok, thanks man! I'll be sure to read the book at least a second time before checking the movie out.

  • You can buy a copy from "Video Search of Miami".. However the film isn't great.. it misses the feel of the book by at least a statute mile..and leaves a lot of storyline out.. Gnossos just isn't played the way he should be, and as most of the book was imagery and thought process it would never make the transition to film satisfactorily.. I LOVE the book too !
