Pushkar is also the venue of one of the country's most colourful cattle fairs - the Pushkar Festival. Pushkar Festival takes place in the month of November when the whole of Pushkar is transformed into a spectacular fair ground. During this festival thousands of pilgrims come to bath in the holy water of Pushkar lake and the biggest cattle and camel markets take place here where farmers, breeders and camel traders buy and sell. During this festival there is horse dealing, camel racing, cattle trading and colourful festivities. This annual fair is an unforgettable event when the entire small town of Pushkar is visited by over lakhs of animals and tourists.
