This is a sculpture that reacts to the movement of people in the room. Each link of it's wormlike shape consists of a motorized power door lock, a working toy motion sensor, hand-dyed green fish-net stocking, green wires, relays, transistors, green zip ties, and tacks attaching it to waxed birch plywood. It can also see itself, so it falls into different patterns of movement depending on the situation. These sculptures look like toys or animals. They are also a visual and physical representation of the energy in a space. more later http://www.meridithpingree.com

  • Well thats neat!

  • Thanks!!

  • does it move on its own or what?

  • It has motion sensors and motors, so if someone is is the room it will move. If a lot of people are in around, it will move a lot

  • bit twitchy, could have been better.

  • That is a great installation, very interesting. I put something similar together for a local tip shop art show using garbage bags hung up in the main shed which were connected to motors and motion sensors which caused the bags to react to people coming close. It almost appeared like there were cats in the bags!

  • this is totally awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!! here it is the perfect connection between a work of art and the audience that is contemplating the work of art.....so every mimic or pace of thought can be reproduced by the work of art that is the object which is examined

(please excuse me for my bad english)

i love this - it is truly innovative

  • Creepy but i like it!

  • it may be a great technical marvel...

but lacks of beauty, its just there...

    needs appeal...

  • SUPER LAME!

  • Ah! Good!
