Joy Division was an English rock band that formed in 1976 in Salford, Greater Manchester. With their dark, cavernous sound and use of synthesizers and electronics, they pioneered the post-punk sound of the late 1970s and the early 1980s. The band dissolved in May 1980 after the suicide of its lead singer, Ian Curtis. The remaining members reformed as New Order and went on to achieve much critical and commercial success.

Though they found only modest success during their career, and released only two studio albums, the group have since been acclaimed as one of the most inventive, evocative and influential groups of their era. Thom Jurek writes "They left just a small bit of music and an echo that still rings

@ianguynz Doesn't answer my question. But, to your comment I say; So what? So U2 (not just Bono) move their "business" from Ireland to the Netherlands for tax purposes. They still pay taxes in Ireland as Irish citizens. And if you've ever looked at the liner notes of a U2 album, or the crew list from a U2 tour book, you'll see a whole bunch of Irish names in there. They are still taking care of their people. No question. Bono is a wanker for sure. But, you can't deny that he has helped others.
