Blues For Felix - John James - Acoustic fingerpicking jazzy-blues instrumental

Time for another song arranged by the illustrous John James, the Welsh guitar wizzard who lives quietly in Wales, not far from the famous village Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychllwyndrwmbwllllantisiloigogogoch.



I'm told though that he sometimes performs on a Welsh radio station; you can find that station easely, just turn your dial until you hear sheep...

He recorded this jazzy-blues instrumental on his lp "Head In The Clouds" Transatlantic TRA305 1975, one of his best works. I'm not sure but I believe it was reissued on cd.
The original compostion is by jazz guitarist Charlie Byrd - John James' arrangement is very different though and has more sophistication and swing.

Well, I'm very glad you play for us! I think everyone loves it. Yep, I've gigged 8 times in the last 26 years, so I know how that is. My brother and I went out to eat recently and he asked if I was going to sell my new CD. I laughed and said, "First off, not sure anyone would want it! Secondly, I think music was a gift given freely to me, so I wouldn't feel right making others pay for it." So... here it sits in my house, collecting dust! lol :)
