@lifehouse57 You are correct. No Country is a fine film, but still, in the hundred upon hundreds of films produced stateside, it's an exception. The Coens almost always produce quality material in any genre.

@palatinesouth may I ask what you thought of Atonement's ending?
-
@palatinesouth While this is indeed a beautiful scene, I am surprised that you can be so critical of the decade that produced No Country for Old Men.

As the movie's central theme is of miscommunication and loss in translation, these characters come to full understanding of each other when no words are spoken.

as i was watching this scene, especially when the camera was zooming out from the father and daughter, i was saying to myself, "Plz don't be over, plz dont be over, plz dont be over."
when the words appeared, showing whom this film was dedicated to, i was like 'DAMMIT!"
you know it's a masterpiece of a film when you don't want it to end. =)

Damn, it's a fucking masterpice!

I think this is the only sequence in the whole load of films in the crappy shallow 2000s that even touched me. Sakamoto's music is germane, of course, but this ending... wow. The humanity..
