Why is she in the back, rather than at the front?
-
Why Haendel was never "bigger" is a total mystery to me.
I can also now understand why Sibelius loved her playing his concerto.
-
I can see why she's dubbed "Queen of The Violin"
Long Live the Queen! \m/

She's using a little trick... I mean she's just amazing, don't misunderstand me, but her octaves sound so perfect, because she's playing most of the time just the base! Anyway amazing performance!!!!!

Ida's version is ok, but I prefer's Christian Ferras from 1965 with Zuba Mehta
-
octaves O_O

@ziriyab Absolutely! This is the correct tempo of the movement and it's hard as hell, because the audience hears everything - as was intended by the composer, himself a violinist - and you can't fake the dificult and often awkward passagework and all the nasty little double-stops. Faster is actually easier.
-
Excellent! This is the only version I've seen where the ascending scale in thirds isn't rushed.
-
The master of the bow, without rival, in my lowly opinion!
And the tempo of this movement is just ideal - it is far often played too fast!

todo esta friamente calculado!!!!excelente!!!mucho
control y gran sonido
i can see why sibelius himself thought ida's performance was outstanding!
