No- its really easy! All you add is a diode (any rectifier type gives best results) so that the band on the diode is closest to the chip, as opposed to the incoming cource.
Sure - all you need is the standard wireup for a LM3915, but all I did, was add a (forward biased) rectifier diode (IN4004) and it really cleared up the signal.
