Here was a funny attempt to repair a hard drive. I know it was going to fail, but I thought I'll give it a go anyway.
With the spindle, there was about 50 degrees which was was a little gritty when I was turining it. Perhaps if I attached my drill to the motor and added toooo much oil. It might of helped a bit more?

P.S. Dont try this unless your hard disk is useless. I think firmly tapping the top of the HD or giving it a rotational-jurk in the right direction might help. If that fails... try put it in the freezer for a few hours. Its helped me with past problems.

  • This video is AWESOME!!! Very well made! I like how the music sets it all up. As soon as I saw the beginning and how the hard drive was being taken apart, I knew right away that it wouldn't work, but then it kept getting more and more funny as the video progressed:

    1. Take it apart

    2. Use pliers Ha - Ha - Ha!

    3. Then use some paper clips... now that part was REALLY FUNNY! I especially like how they're colored ; )

    4. You can't beat the punchline... It didn't work

    Great video!

  • LOL smart comments here

  • of course it didnt work.... You shouldn't remove disk plates from motor, because data is written on all plates same time, so when you put the plates back, the warent in the same position... Sorry for my english...

  • @PivotMasterD1 It didn't work because if dust comes in contact with the platters, when you turn the drive on, the dust will literally scratch the platters and damage the reading heads.

  • never heurd of a clean room

  • It most likely did not work due to misalignment of the platters and high head flying height due to the paperclips.
