@homeloansmd, she was talking specifically about New Mexico, which according to the most recent census, is approximately 50% latino. It's obvious that you would cite vague and general facts, especially in the case of knowing that the census will always underreport the latino population which in many cases cannot be counted with accuracy. Fortunately, we are not talking about "only" the US economy. We are talking maintaining cultures, languages and traditions which no money could buy.

75% of the US population identifies themselves as Caucasian according to the US Census Bureau. More than 85% of the country speaks only one language, English. To suggest the US taxpayers should pay for and US schools should teach math and science courses in Spanish and to not do so is a "disservice" really shows how far off the deep end this woman's critical reasoning skills are. Teaching classes in English promotes the learning of the language most critical to succeeding in the US economy,
The interview was conducted in the context of education as it related to the Latino community. Not sure her idea is to teach curriculum where it's not a critical mass issue. American style regional democracy would allow for different languages including Chinese in areas where it's wanted and needed. Ironically Spanish is spoken in many prisons, a horrible place to get educated. Perpetuating an underclass only helps the develop the power of the criminal element toward justified anarchy.
