http://www.pointblankonline.net/dubstep-course---logic.php In this video Danny J Lewis delves into LFO (low-frequency oscillation), a function found on many synthesizers such as Logics ES2. He uses the frequency analyser to explain exactly what is happening to the sound waves when you add LFO.

LFO is the foundation of the classic wobble bass which is very popular with producers of tear-out dubstep (or brostep as it has become known in certain circles!). This video is taken from the brand new Dubstep Pro Producer Course in Logic which covers not only this type of sound, but also all the various offshoots that have evolved since dubstep emerged. You can find out more about the course here: http://www.pointblankonline.net/dubstep-course---logic.php

The dubstep course is also available in Ableton here: http://www.pointblankonline.net/dubstep-course-ableton-live.php

  • @pointblankonline I've heard lots of moaning by some of the pro's about Logic recently, and may be it's about Logic Pro 9 in particular... what's your opinion about that?

    PS: Thanks for amazing tutorial!

  • @Tsvetanof Hi there. Every DAW has it's positive and negative points. In our experience there are still a few minor glitches in Logic 9, however there are ways round them and the positive aspects far outweigh the negative. Along with Ableton, our Logic courses are by far the most popular with students. At the end of the day, great music can be made on any modern DAW... we recommend you pick one, practice, practice and truly master it as you would if you were learning the guitar or piano.

  • @pointblankonline I love the instrument analogy. It is one of those strange things, you don't really realise how much learning to use a DAW is like learning to use an instrument until you get into it. If anything Logic is as difficult to master as a piano; well after all a piano has 88 keys and you can see them all, who knows how many keys Logic has.

  • I accidentally turned the text caption on and couldnt stop laughing :)

  • Great tutorial!

  • @avatar6091 nvm :D I found the problem accidently pushed a button :P

  • I'm kind of new to logic but how do you open the channel eq and es2 synthesizer at the same time? everytime I try it either one of them will shut itself down :(

  • @lilxghettodragon idk waht to think of that =/

  • I have been trying this for ages! And for some reason after copying all the steps I just cant get my program to do it. The wobble seems lazy if you understand? It isn't as clear as yours

  • how could u possibly dislike this video??

  • @lilxghettodragon That means we are starting a new era of music.....ELECTRONICA!!!
