The Liberty ship ss richard montgomery is a time-bomb waiting for a terrorist to give Britain its first real tsunami and, maybe, worse.

Fact: The US explosives carrier Richard Montgomery sank in the Thames Estuary in August 1944. It was loaded with 1500 tons of explosive munitions. The Admiralty decided to leave the wreck and its dangerous cargo undisturbed. The wreck lies just a few hundred yards offshore between an oil refinery and the several towns. Southend on Sea is just a couple of miles away on the other side of the Thames estuary. Rumours about the ship and its cargo have circulated in these towns ever since. Denials have been issued by ministers in the House of Commons in response to MPs questions about the presence on board of biological, chemical and gas warheads. Nevertheless, rumours persist that the real reason the wreck was not made safe was because of the existence of dirty weapons on board.

  • Great video, nice to give terrorists idea's. Not that i can see Sheerness and Pound Town being much of a target... LOL.

  • thorpe bay is far nearer!.

    less than a mile offshore.

sheppey is at least 5 miles away.

  • Look people the wreck is now in four parts I was told this by the bomb disposal squad in leysdown when we found a remainding bomb there. They said that the wreck will never blow up unless the bombs onboard have explosives attached to them nothing to worry about nothing going to happen this has proved it hadn't blown up for the last 71 years so it isn't now plus bombs that are 50 years or older have to have explosives attached anyway!

  • See more about the wreck on facebook group "SS Richard Montgomery (the wreck)

here are photoes and lots more info

  • People, should not say that it's not dangerous, without being qualified to say, I would rather take note of the famous bomb disposal expert Major Hartley MBE.. TNT doesn't deteriate in water, and phosphorus has to be kept in water to keep it from exploding. Its too dangerous to touch thats why divers never have been inside. A liberty ship of the same size exploded in Texas, throwing it's 2 ton anchor 1.62 miles (2.61 km) and knocking two planes out of the sky see:- Texas_City_Disaster

  • its alright watching this but i live on the isle of sheppey and i am pertrified of this.

  • like if its hits a mine its be small nuke
