The Magnetic Telescope is the sixth of the seventeen animated Technicolor short films based upon the DC Comics character of Superman, originally created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. This animated short was created by the Fleischer Studios. The story runs about eight minutes and covers Superman's adventures in saving the town from a comet drawn toward earth by a magnetic telescope. It was originally released 24 April 1942.

  • 5:28, flying into a comet is like flying into a brickwall.

  • @snakes3425 I'd like to say the scientist as he knew what he was doing ;) I don't think the cops were aware that the comet was already within the Earth's gravitational pull. Who would ever want to bring a comet toward Earth anyway?

  • Everytime I watch this cartoon I can't tell who's dumber, the scientist for bringing a comet to within a few thousand yards of the Earth or the cops for cutting the power to the magnet while said comet was caught within Earth's gravitational pull
