Parody
-
Mstislav Rostropovich on Dimitris Sgouros
-
This is a Paraphrase if you understand what means!!!!!
-
If he had any knowledge of the opera, and how it is sung, he may have played it with the right feeling, intonation, and voicing. He can play very quickly- but there is the difference between great pianists and great musicians. He is a very good pianist. Even with a liszt paraphrase, one must make music.

HAHAHAHA that is just the PERFECT tempo definition!!! hahahahahaha
-
He does have an extremme talent but he plays music too damn fast.
-
wonderful performance
sound is affected by the bad acoustic hall
-
It is too fast, he destroys all music.

i don't understand why in hell a lot of pianists insist on playing Liszt "presto piu prestissimo possibile" as if they were running away from the devil or affraid of missing a bus or a train! that annoys me so much!!!
BUT his performance has some good points. Sometimes he explores well the dynamics and also makes some interesting mood contrasts.

True, the sound quality of this recording is poor. But, you can hear a great hifi recording of the Rigoletto at soundclick(dot)com that captures Sgouros' Steinway perfectly (--> 1989 Sydney Opera House, as encore played to capacity audience)
