Ridiculous! Actually, this has happened to several strong grandmasters. While spending at least 3 hours a day studying openings, they forget to review such simple material from beginners' textbooks. They usually assume that similar endgames are less likely to occur
chess is about mind tactic, not instantly moving the pieces, and if you are 1600 i seriously doubt you can mate instantly with K/B if you had to start in the center of the board
did he resign?? he didnt knock his king over. heh i wonder if anyone thought their opp was accepting a draw offer when their opp thought they were resigning
You must also keep in mind that I'm sure she has studied the very well known technique of check mating with a bishop and knight. I doubt she even had to calculate at all from those positions.

Once you understand how to mate with the Knight and Bishop, it's not hard to do it quickly.

2500 elo? i do it instantly and my elo is not very much( almost 1600). also my brother with 9 years does it. it takes brains only and chess expi
