The video clip is from an interview conducted as part of an oral history project by the Atlanta History Center. The project is titled Voices Across the Color Line and focuses on the Civil Rights movement and activities in Atlanta, Georgia. In this clip, C.T. Vivian discusses the period of his life when it became apparent to him that society considered a white person superior to a black person in all socio-economic levels. He describes the differences, and similarities, between an all black community and an integrated community of poor whites and blacks. He also explains that the growth and development of an individual is a lifelong experience and is not defined by discrete actions. The entire interview is available for viewing in the research room of the Kenan Research Center at the Atlanta History Center.
