On the way home from Wythenshawe I caught a train at Manchester Airport. I thought it more sensible to film at Manchester Piccadilly rather than Manchester Airport with this being the result. The weather was pleasantly sunny for a change. On arrival at Stalybridge I filmed the departure of my train, whilst waiting for the connecting local train from Manchester Victoria. Then I hopped over to platform 2 & 3 to film the Southern approach to the station including the signal box.
66 562 had not long delivered some tankers to a nearby siding, just beyond the signal box, and was waiting for our express to pass before travelling back light. I arrived just in time to capture the engine entering the loop where it would wait for a suitable path for onward travel. The crew gave me a blast as they passed (thanks guys). Look closely at the end as there's even a "Subway" at Stalybridge ( those buttie bars get everywhere!) - it may be hard to spot in this vid but the concrete slab at track level says "Subway". And for those who haven't spotted the deliberate mistake the title says "Manchester Piccadilly - 4th July 2010". Looks like I'm capable of time travel. Oops!!! I don't know why I put that. I may have spotted it but forgotten to remove it when editing. It should have read "Manchester Piccadily - 4th March 2010".
is manchester piccadilly station worth visiting then geat vid

@nxec43 Thankyou. It's more DMU/EMU orientated now than it used to be but still worth visiting. Platforms 13 and 14 are "through" platforms so the freight trains use that alot, especially with the freight container depot just down the tracks at at Old Trafford.
