This 9th guitar lesson in the blues rhythm guitar series looks at how to play turnarounds!

The backing track is free on the web site!

The whole series plus bonus lessons are available now on DVD with 3 bonus lessons, mp3's of all the backing tracks and pdf booklet - see the web site for details.

Taught by Justin Sandercoe.

Full support at the justinguitar web site where you will find hundreds of lessons on a wide range of subjects, and all the scales and chords that you will ever need! There is a great forum too to get help, no matter what the problem.

And it is all totally free, no bull. No sample lessons, no memberships, no free ebook. Just tons of great lessons :)

To get help with this lesson (and for further info and tabs), find the Lesson ID in the video title (like ST-667 or whatever) and then look it up on the Lesson Index page of justinguitar.com

Have fun :)

  • Great stuff. Too advanced for me now, but I love getting ideas like the ones you've shared here. I was able to catch each of your turnarounds at the end, and loved how you mixed things up with the 12 bar progressions.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • yes, Justin has taught such playing as at 6:15. These are the 'walking bass' lessons in the Jazz sections. Have fun with it! :)

  • @JoshSSmith Yeah diatonically in a major key the vi is minor, but in a blues like this it's played as a dominant 7. In a jazzier context you can play the ii as a minor and the vi as a dominant and that's a popular turnaround. I- VI7-ii7-V7-I

  • Justin is just a great guy, I would love to meet him and jam with him just once....oh yeah and hang out and go fishing.

  • Justin, Thank you for all of your lessons!! Happy new Year!!
