Our band played at contest this year. we got straight 1s

believe it or not, the point of this piece is that it is SUPPOSED to be played slowly, speeding it up takes away from the emotional aspect of the piece itself. we played it slowly and half of us were crying by the end. also, i just happen to know a thirteen year old girl who started playing french horn three weeks before our concert, and she nailed that solo on her first try. sorry if i'm being a pessimist, but this video is the first time i have EVER heard this song and not started to cry.

Actually sounds good, but the tempo definitely takes away from the feeling and story behind the song. Dynamics could have been more dramatic, too, but an overall good sound. (I've played both 1st alto and tenor sax on this piece and it's awesome)

@Fuego1224 Actually, Holsinger only made an arrangement of this song. The lyrics were written by Horatio Spafford and put to music by Philip Bliss.

Did you Know that holsinger wrote the song when he was sailing back form england to the americas to pick up his wife because when she and her five daugthers went for a vaction to europe the boat they were sailing in sunk. The only survior was the the wife. That night when going back the americas he started writing this song when his boat got to the garves of his five daughters.
Its sad but the song is so... beatiful.

One of them just falls over in a heart attack...lmao...
that's pretty shameful that an adult horn player screws it up when teenager nails it!
