The Gray Ghost of Sagamore runs home to an easy win, as narrated by Ed Sullivan.

  • Last week I posted a comment pointing out that this is not the 1953 American Derby with Arcaro aboard but rather the 1953 Arlington Classic with Eric Guerin up. For some reason it hasn't been posted. Ed Sullivan was unfortunately given the wrong footage. Native Dancer wore the number 4 saddle cloth in both races. He won the Classic by nine lengths and the American Derby by two. I get goosebumps every time I see him on film. He was beyond praise.

  • Native Dancer and Ed Sullivan! Awesome video!

  • Another great video of this awesome horse! Thanks for posting it!

  • Native Dancer is in the pedigree of every horse in today's Preakness race. Not a surprise, but thought I'd remind everyone. There wouldn't be Northern Dancer or Alydar or Affirmed, etc... without this mighty long striding powerful, yet often less remembered colt. thanks for posting!

  • Wow, I can't thank you enough for posting this great historical footage of Native Dancer cf :) This is awesome ! =D

So talented and a tough competitor ,a beautiful horse as well .
