MAME Arcade front end using MALA with video previews

Using MALA v1.04 in this arcade cabinet. Video previews supplied by emumovies.com. A very cool site for retro gaming artwork.

I didn't want a layout with a spot for videos and another for snapshots. I wanted it to show screenshots as the selection moves through the list but show videos only when I stop.

The way this was done was using MALA's layout editor to have the area for snapshots and videos to take up the same space but put the videos in Z-order on "top". Then in the MALA config, add a 1200ms pause so that the videos show only if you stop and pause.

is there a program that automatically makes video snaps from any emulator you specify? if so can someone give me a download link or something..

i cant find anything

I downloaded mame0135b_i686 to play aliens...but when I open the mame emulator..a message says " no games found if this is your first time using mame please see the config. txt. file in the docs directory for information on configuring mame." so I'm new to this what do I do?.. I'd appreciate answers and help very much... thanks

@cosmicgate07 If you look at the config.txt file in the docs directory, it'll instruct you on how to make sure your game file / image is in the correct place.

@amiga2000 im still alittle lost i have mameui140 i dont see anywhere in the install it says create video snaps

also i want to make video snaps for other emulators like nes etc... this is what i mean.. so if you can tell me the program in mame maybe i can take that and use it outside on something else

Question- How do you get MALA to show the cabinets? I've got my MALA layout finished but can figure out how to get the cabinets images in there. There is no window called "cabinets" to size and place on the layout.
