The Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne Symphonic Wind Ensemble performs the second movement of Gustav Holst's "Second Suite in F", "Song Without Words". Prof. Chad Nicholson directs the ensemble in a concert given in Auer Concert Hall on the IPFW campus on March 3, 2011. Audio was recorded by the IPFW Music Technology Program with video by College Access TV.
This song was arranged by Holst for 4 part choir as the Cornish folk song "I love my love", about a woman who went mad waiting for her man to return from a sea voyage. 1st verse: Abroad as I was walking, one evening in the spring/I heard a maid in Bedlam, so sweetly for to sing. Her chains she rattled with her hands, and thus replied she: I love my love, because I know my love loves me.
