I think alot of the guys commenting on here would chew there words if they pulled a 94 up next to a pl 4611. This baby will lift straight out of the 94s belt ,fantastic anchor, lift a 24t double ender flat stick straight off the ground, as for ditching in 3rd gear you can only go as fast as the guys ringing the pipe out!! you can de-rig and have on the lowboy in under a hour . Yes it has a good few teething problems there are a lot more pro's than con's, keep at it Volvo

Volvo Pipe layers (as already stated) have optional Rear View Camera's which pretty much eliminate, with the helps of mirrors, all blind spots.
I just sent up 4 Camera kits to be installed on the 4 PL4611's we have out this month.
Customer is beyond pleased with the product and looks like they will be taking even more in the near future.
the new Volvo Pipe layer is in a league of it's own, far above that of CAT
if only loweboying on the job was that dry and that much room. it would never work in mud.80% of the time the right of way is wet on most jobs.

Thanks for your comment. The rear view is actually very good due to the cab riser. Depending on model our piplayer is even equipped with an hydraulically elevated cab which gives the operator a higher postion for even more all-round visibility. Another advantage is the lift and positioning performance through 360 degrees, which is not the case for normal piplayers. Volvo pipelayer do have high tractive effort and stability, depending on model it's possible to work on up to 35-degree grades.

Caterpillar pipelayers have been around 55-60 years and are already well established. The segment starting at 1:32 here is really amazing how they break down like that.

Thanks for your feedback! When we developed our new pipelayers range we tried to incorporate especially the customer needs for easy and quick transportation. Nice to hear you like it! Do you have experience with Volvo Pipelayers or could you already see one in action?
