  • Personally I think the whole Boeing vs Airbus battle is stupid. I respect Boeing for its designs such as the 747 and 787. While at the same time I respect Airbus for challenging the juggernaut with the 380 and 350. Both aircraft are beautiful, both aircraft have to meet the same standards. Its pointless to bicker which one is better.

The only reason this rivalry exists is because of dip stick nationalists. This world would be so much better without them.

  • I' m glad there's the debate over which is better. That means each company will continue to try and produce better and better aircraft. All the better for the passengers and airlines!

  • REAL aviation enthusiasts see planes as planes. At least I do. I've been in love with planes ever since I can remember in my 19 years of life. My favorite planes are based on design and not the manufacturer, that's just irrelevant labeling.

  • They don't look similar at all. Especially when you consider that the basic airplane is a tube with wings. How different can they get? What do you want to see from Airbus? A square? A tube with wings and under-wing mounted engines is currently the most efficient "style." To all you nutters who say Airbus copied Boeing, or vice versa, why don't you come up with an airplane that looks completely different from anything flying today... and has the same, or better, operating economics.

  • @mobius5759 Rivalry needs to exist. Otherwise, we'd have pretty boring airplanes. IMO, that's why we have anti-monopoly laws. Imagine the U.S. with one commercial airline. One car-manufacturer. The same drawbacks would be present if there was one global producer of air-frames. No innovation.

  • @UKsniper4 And anyways, it doesn't matter what YOU think. You know why? Because Boeing spent years and millions of dollars researching into what plane they should build and how they should go about doing it. If you think that you, with keyboard and quote of boundless wisdom, have more know-how than those geniuses, you need help. Serious help. Same goes for the A350/A380 haters.

  • @UKsniper4 "If it ain't Boeing it ain't going" isn't even a popular phrase.. it's "I ain't going." Nice credibility on your part. And on that phrase, you're really going to state how well something will sell based off of something that Boeing "nationals" started saying? Really? How about some legitimate quotes. Dumbass. You make Boeing fans look stupid.

  • @dks11000 What makes you say that?

  • If the A350 did "copy" the 787, what sense would that be? Airbus and Boeing have completely different ideologies.. does anybody hear honestly think that Airbus would throw away all it's work since it's inception just to gain the upper hand? In that case, there would be no A380, A330, or A320 (all of which are in their own niches--separate from Boeing). They do things differently to make more money.

    Like Apple and Microsoft..

  • @Guitargod4ever45 Similar exteriors? Similar doesn't cut it with this kind of stuff.. one small difference and everything can be different. Regardless, the A350 looks nothing like the 787. That's like saying the A350 looks like the 767. We'll see similarities where we want to see them.

  • @samsam3723 In retrospect though the boeing counterparts have been around a lot longer than the airbus'.
