  • Thank you for this vid. I'm transitioning and I'm feeling good about my decision. I have the same ? that "adltaylor" asked regarding is BC really necessary? I already had a short hairstyle when I decided to transition, so majority of my relaxed ends are less than 3/4 an inch. I trimmed my ends recently, and I think if I keep trimming, eventually all the relaxed ends will be gone.

  • You can do both; clip your ends a little every month until you're comfortable with the BC. You'll get to the point where you'll be tired of the 2 texture. Good luck. You'll love it once you BC.

  • Thank you for your blog. I am about 8-9 months into my transition and wondering if a BC is necessary or can I incrementally cut the relaxed ends off? What are the pros and cons of either process?

  • I did both. For 9 months I cut off an inch or so every month to help the process along. At the 9 month point I couldn't take it any more and did the BC. By that time I had more natural hair than relaxed hair on my head.

  • I really needed to see this, girl. You really hit it home for me when you said that it will grow "up and out" and not down. Why was i looking for it to grow down? (smile) I love your blog!!!

  • Thanks for watching merinofro. And yes as natural we must think up and out when it comes to our hair. If our hair starts to lay flat we should get worried. :)

  • I feel you! I feel the freedom and I'm just 2 months into my transistion. I have been mentally ready for a little over a year, but in JAnuary, I gave in to a relaxer and cut for my birthday. I loved the cut, but deep inside, I hated that I had to give into the relaxer trap. Just think...right now, I would be 10 years into my transaction if I had not given into the relaxer in January. The good new is I have made up my mind to not go back to relaxers and I am so ready for this! Thank you!

  • This was so beautifully put that I had to comment, even though I am a bit late to the party. Having been natural now for 8 years, you expressed everything I felt when I went natural, right down to apologizing to my hair. Thank you for this. I never transitioned, I just got tired one day and cut down to my new growth of one inch. And from that day til this, I have never regretted it. I just had to say "thank you."

  • love dis video i started my trans 4 months and i have so much new growth that i made up my mind to do the bc 21st november i feel so free no more falling hair i can't wait for to wear my natural proud...thanks again

  • Great vid!!!! I'm wrong. It is a revolution because you are making a dramatic change. As little girls our mothers couldn't wait until we got old enough to get our first relaxers. So many of us never got a chance to really know the texture or patterns of our hair. My hair has been rejecting perms, heat, and other chemicals since my first press n' curl. Our minds have been cond to having our hair straight. The process you speak of is essential.

    Thanks for sharing,
