The Evolution of Final Fantasy [30] FF Theme (Part 1)

Part 30 in a series that takes a look at the history of one of the greatest gaming franchises of all time, chronicling the many recurring themes, characters and monsters that have appeared over the years. This entry focuses on the classic Final Fantasy theme (otherwise known as the prologue or Ahead on our Way) and its many variations (Part 1 of 2). Enjoy!

Notes regarding this video (please read before commenting!):

- For the entire series, I have simply gathered video footage from various sources on YouTube and compiled them together. I've done this only to entertain the many fans of Final Fantasy here on YouTube, so with that said, many thanks to all the folks who took the time to record the game footage.

- Again, for the whole series, I've focused solely on the main games. Remakes and updates of those games are featured, but I've opted to skip games like Tactics, FFX-2 and such. I had to draw the line somewhere to keep a reasonable length.

- I used the original audio rips from all the games, so you won't find any orchestral versions or anything like that.

- The video footage is typically a segment from one of the opening computer-generated cutscenes from each game.

- It seems that the FF theme might be included in FFII, but if it's in the original, I never was able to find the tune. It might have appeared only in some of the later remakes, but in any case, it's the only one that could be missing from the video.

As far as this list goes, no version even comes close to FFIV's. Freaking epic and classic in every sense of the word.

FFV brought about the two most feared superbosses Shinryu and neo shinryu(bet you thought i was going ot say omega) anyway i don't see why it isn't as wanted as some others which in my opinion are worse e.g. FFIII (it was good but would've preffered FFV)

This song normally means, "Aw, it's over" to me. But I love it anyway :)

@StewNWT haha right one for you, but my personal fav is ff7.especialy the jenova theme at the end is a masterpiece. I dont think Nobuo would have remade all the ff7 songs if it wasnt worth it :P bersides 7, ff6 comes close too

I felt heartbroken when Palom and Porom turned to stone. Then they were on that airship when you fight the Giant of Babel and I was like "You brats! You gave me a heart attack!" They made me feel like an old man. T_T
