So as I say in the video, I see a lot of these makeup starter kit videos and sometimes I feel like they only apply to the person who made the video. Or I have customers who come in at my job and don't know where to begin with makeup, whether they are 14 or 40. Therefore, I decided to do this series in hopes of helping yall :) There is NO way I could make it all into one video (hence why I'm doing a series out of it) because think about it: not everybody is the same so therefore not everybody's needs are the same. Now in this video is the very basic of all basics: skin care. I think this is something everyone can and should start at a young age, because it's basically taking care of your skin and hygiene also. I do of course show what I use for MY skin type and what I've found to work. I've tried everything under the sun so I only showed or mentioned anything that has worked for me and brands that have good products that you should check out. I will say the one product I absolutely HATE is Proactive. It works at first when your young, but as you get older it stops working and can sometimes reverse and get worse (meaning your skin, which is what happened to me.) Proactive is meant for the YOUTH not older teens and adults. Just thought I'd throw that out there cause I hear many people always asking about it. Anyways I hope this helps and here's a quick break down of basic skin care that everybody needs:

Face Wash-Remember that a thicker and cream consistency is best for dry skin where as a thinner consistency is best for oily skin.

Astringent-The one I use is Sea Breeze, it's really cheap at Wal-mart but you can also use Clean & Clear or Neutragena. This is important cause it removes makeup and dirt that most cleasners can't. It also helps with minimizing and reducing the appearance of pores, which is good to start doing younger so they aren't problematic for you as you get older.

Face Scrub/Mask- Use this only ONCE or TWICE a week and that's it! No matter your skin type, even if it's oily! Using a scrub or mask too much can actually make your skin worse and cause you to break out more. I've used a bunch of stuff from Neutragena, Dermalogica, to MAC. So, just find one that's within your budget and works for you. A really good mask/scrub in one (and is really cheap!) is the aspirin mask. Youtube videos on how to do this, it'll come up I promise.

Moisturizer-This is very important even if you have oily skin. For moisturizer it's the same as a face wash: the thicker and creamier the consistency is better for dry skin and a thinner consistency is better for oily skin. I use an oil control in the morning and a more moisturizing one at night just to help keep my skin somewhat balanced. My favorite drugstore moisturizer (for those on a budget) is Neutragena, I bought it randomly when I ran out of another one I was using and really liked it :) I didn't break out any worse or more then usual and it did it's job :)

  • What makeup drugstore makeup removed do you recommend? And loved the video by the way! :)

  • @lovla1 from trial and error I've found Neutragena's (sp) to be the best :)

  • I have the Volcanic Ash Mask and I looooove it! It initially made me break out, but I think that was just it drawing out the impurities. I'm still in the search for a good toner for dry skin. The L'Oreal one worked well, but then I found out they test on animals so I don't want to repurchase :(

  • @xxbeautybabesxx Yayy I'm glad I'm not the only one :D That's what happened to me! So it's good knowing that it is probably because it draws out the impurities. Hmm well I gotta get some more toner from target so if I see any for dry skin I'll tell ya so you can research them! Really??? I didn't know L'oreal tested on animals! I don't use any of their actual makeup but I definitely will not be using any of their products now

  • Love the video, dear. Can't wait to see the next installment! That MAC Volcanic Ash looks awesome. I would love to find that at my CCO some day. <3

  • @javajunkie101 Thank you thank you Jane <333 Yay :) I did film all of the parts for this series last night but I rushed a couple of em so I'm gonna just re do them now xD lol I actually really love the Volcanic Ash! It leaves my skin uber smooth..but I started breaking out a little more so I think it's helping with bringing up the impurities hopefully lol And yeah I was happy I found that they were fully stocked with it at my CCO :)
