It's nearly impossible to build a successful massage business by just being a generalist. The problem with being a generalist and marketing to everyone, is that you end up marketing to no one. This is true for every business that ever existed. Specializing in solving certain types of problems for people, is the ticket to take you from a slow business, to a thriving business. When you are deciding what type of specialty you want to focus on in your business, consider what types of problems people deal with. When you begin looking around your community and marketing to specific people, you will become a very powerful massage therapist and people will be seeking YOU out!

    I really agree that it helps to specialise. I was talking to some of my graduates... one was almost on the verge of giving up when she became pregnant. She then realised that there was a niche of reflexology in pregnancy and now she works as many hours as she wants with pregnant women. Keep up the good work!
