  • Is there a reason you are lifting your leg out to the side and then swinging it back? I train in Ju Jitsu and we are taught to turn out so that we swing our leg back so that it is inline with the direction our hips are facing i.e. legs are strong when moving fwrd/bak while inline with the direction of your hips not away from them like at 0:47.

This vid is slightly different from how we do O soto guruma but it will show you what I mean:

    Thanks for the vid!

  • Thanks for the comment, ScarecrowC! I demonstrated the throw as I learned it from a high ranking Judo instructor, but the way you describe it might actually be the more proper one. Personally I think that osoto guruma is a great throw for belt grading and demonstration, but is inferior to osoto gari when it comes to competition and self-defence.

  • nicely done!

  • Thank you very much, omazing13!

  • Nicely done: the narration did not impede demonstrating the timing needed to cleanly execute the throw.

  • Thanks, Jujitsu4u, appreciated!

  • You're welcome. To clarify why I made the previous comment: students have to be able to discern between pauses for emphasis in teaching and actual tactical changes in speed needed for given techniques. That's not always easy, and bad habits can develop.

  • Thank you, dansta187!

  • excellent 5/5 Thank you...

  • Thank you for the support, kenshin715!
