Here i give gnome shell a go in ubuntu 11.10 and to be honest its rather nice to use but still has some quirks to be sorted, although the built in screen recorder is cool, pity it does not support audio though..

  • A Question mate,

    I have installed Shell too,

but there is an issue in Design...

I login with GNOME,and it starts, but the panel have Graphic-Issues, and I don't know what to do..

    Do you know it ?

    Greeteings fromm Germany.

  • @Linux4You1 what sort of issues man??

  • Sneeky, have you installed Gnome Tweak yet and added the extensions pack or the Journal? The Journal lets you quickly access your most recently used files sorted by category in the same fashion as the applications are displayed.

I've been using this for 5 days now nearly and as much as I love KDE I just can't leave this yet as I feel like it's making total sense now.. It does take a while to really get it but when you do you really understand what they are trying to achieve.

  • @fatriff i have done the tweak but that as far so far,so little time man

  • How do you get it? Just throughout the software center?

  • @Fe4Ver yes mate, then on login choose gnome

  • @siriuslymessedup you need to install gnome classic (fallback mode). look for ''compiz fusion gnome shell'' on youtube and I suggest watching the video by MassiveManagement and gotbletu

  • @siriuslymessedup some of it, but am playing with another distro myself at the moment, will ask sneekygirl if she has

  • @Linux4You1 You've probably got the proprietary drivers installed for your graphics card, check hardware drivers and disable it.

  • too bad it's still fucked up when using fglrx, btw,to repair the wallpaper crop glitch when entering activities install gnome tweak tools and dezactivate the "Have the file manager handle the desktop".

  • Welcome back sneeks glad your feeling better great vid buddy keep em coming.
