This video presents the Polish case-study of training in SMEs in the Zaglebie sub-region in south-east Poland. It was filmed at the conference "Summarising results of the project - Leveraging training and skills development in SMEs" on 13 December 2010, at the Ministry of Regional Development in Warsaw.

Background:
The pool of SME workers requiring further education and training is significant. However, SMEs often find it difficult to support formal learning activities due to their low critical mass.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are responsible for a large share of GDP, employment and job creation. However, significant barriers to training & skills development remain for most SMEs -- in some cases SMEs participate in up to 50% less training in SMEs than large enterprises.
To further examine training needs, the OECD Local Economic and Employment Development (LEED) Programme has implemented an international study examining both formal and informal training in SMEs.
