@linoma57 Actually he is very original and off the cuff. Most nights on the show he doesn't even use a TelePrompTer. you have to remember that different places of the world find comedy different then other places. It was also considered funny in that time era.

Does he americanize his accent for the LLS? This was funny, but I can't help but wonder if he was drunk at the time.

Well, yes, that's him back in the days when he still used to drink.
But as for his accent: it was a lot thicker back then, but after living for... hm... about 15 years in the US, he simply adapted a bit to the American accent. Though sometimes, when he talks about home (Scotland), his accent gets stronger ;-)
