  • why do trains honk, is it as warning or is it as show for the camera?

  • Trains are required to do two long blasts, a short blast and a long blast at each grade crossing, unless marked as a quiet zone. The reason he was tooting at us was just to put on a show.

  • Always show grade crossing in case some idiot get s hit.

    Also interesting seeing signals operate.

Why all the horn blasts at 4:35?

Well done, steady, tripod -mounted videos!

    Thank you.

  • He was putting on a show.

  • ok, thnx! :)

  • the best video ever

  • Sounds fine by me! Ohio is loaded with good photo ops, and I try to use them all to my advantage, although there are a couple that have managed to elude me, even until this day. I'll get 'em eventually.

I can help you out quite a bit with Wheeling, but the times that they arrive/depart/switch are not always the same. It varies from day to day. And as for the W&LE trains on the NS Toledo District - I am at a loss. I have no idea when they run.

  • Ya I talked to another guy about 184 and the times to catch it, but thanks for the Bellevue arrival info! Wheeling would be nice to catch eventually, but it seems like a totally separate monster. lol. I made it as far west as Vermilion last weekend, you Ohio guys have some REALLY nice photo ops out that way and PLENTY of trains to keep one occupied. Next time my crew is out that way I'll let ya know and maybe we'll cross paths.

  • It's definitely worth the trip to go catch the 184. It usually has BC Rail power once a week, which is a real nice treat in Ohio. It is called out of Toledo around 8 - 10 AM, I believe. It should arrive into Bellevue around 12 - 1 PM. The Wheeling stuff runs "as required."

  • Another great video. That CN train is especially badass. I'm hoping to get out that and get some shots of 184 and the Wheeling stuff on the Toledo District after I get done with these college finals...
