I remember the Q112 always used to come very quick when it was Jamaica Buses. Now with MTA it takes a long amount of time. In 2008 I waited a whole hour for one to come.
Forgot how Low Floors aren't as good with huge loads as High Floors.
For some reason I searched and it said that Orion VII CNG's are used for low-medium speed routes though, that's where I got that theory from. RTS would still slow the ride on the 1 though, I know drivers there that floor it down the whole hill on the Bridge. RTS would redline way too much in that situation. This also makes your opinion a fact in my opinion. I think I just confused myself!
The MTA doesn't use X for some reason. But still, the Q44 is a huge load, that's why you rarely see it on the Q44, Q31, etc. But either way, they should keep the CNGs on the QBx1.
Also have you noticed that RTS are used on low-medium speed routes? That's due to it's 4 speed (available ZF 6 speed) transmission. They use VII's on slow routes since they accelerate great. Q44 has Orion V's due to it being a high speed route. They seem to be suiting the buses to match the routes needs. You've noticed how well Orion VII HEV's work on the Q10, which is a high speed route? HEV have no speed limiter, just CVT, that means it can keep going faster until wind resistance catches up.
QBx1 isn't really crush loaded, you should see the Bx36 and others!
Do you have any idea how fast it can go? I honestly believe the V CNG can do 100!
Orion VII HEV will do good on that route, they use it on the Q44 sometimes and it's a much more needed route.
The QBx1 is also an express bus in disguise, MTA calls it a local bus for no apparent reason. It skips stops other buses makes in the Bronx and in Queens!
It wouldn't be likely to see another MTA-NYCTA (or vice versa) switch. College Point is the only depot in reasonable distance for the QBx1. So until College Point gets hybrids, we will most likely remain seeing the CNGs on the QBx1.
Some buses had already put the Q50 sign on, but I haven't seen that in a while. It could be beneficial to keep a Bx50 route going to Throg's Neck, and a Q50 going from Throg's Neck on the Bx side to LGA, making it a part of LGA depot. Then we'd see VIIs and TMCs.
The only other reasonable bus to put on the QBx1 is the RTS-06. The Orion VIIs wouldn't put up with the physical route. They also can't handle crush loads either. About 5-10 of QV's have broken down within four years as a result of crush loads on the Q46. Also, the QBx1 is run by College Point which only runs the MCIs and 05 CNGs.
I don't know I just think the QBx1 shuld have a different type of bus other than the Orion V CNG. I remember when the QBx1 had the TMC RTS buses and it flew through Whitestone Expressway, Whitestone Bridge, Bruckner/Bouelvard Expressway and New England Thruway!
RTS on the QBx1 isn't the best idea, they use Orion V CNG's because they have enough gears to deal with such a high speed route. Yesterday the V did over 85MPH, I don't know the speed but it was too high for the speedometer. The RTS has less gears and might redline often on the QBx1 route, well the ZF ones can handle it a little better. Atleast the RTS will own the Orion 7 CNG all day everyday in performance. 7 CNG only does 40MPH with speed limiter. On the Q25/65 LIMITED it would be GREAT!
Im pretty sure about these: The Q101R will become the Q100, the Q9A will become the Q89, the Q19A will become the Q69, and the Q19B will become the Q49 all in March.
I know, all they (College Point) operate now is Orion V CNGs. But I like the cricketing sound and the other one it makes, I dont know how to describe it. Plus the ride is pretty cool on one, but nothing beats an old RTS.

Yes this conversation is becoming very confusing.

I don't why they are doing that for b/c it seem reasonable to keep it like that!

Comment went over limit lol.
They are taking letters out of the bus route numbers. Q20A and B will be Q20 soon too.

Your right about that!

Either way, it's pointless. I mean it's just a number.

I don't know why MTA took them so long to renumber the buses!

MTA could have use the RTS-06 buses for College Point Depot. I use to take the QBx1 bus. You know some of the other bus routes are being renumbered?

I don't like the CNG buses, I don't know why ex-Queens Surface got rid of there RTS buses!

Me too, along with the Orion V CNGs

Ah....my favorite type of bus!
