Klaus Schulze performs 'For Barry Graves' - live concert 1977.
Unique and rare footage. Video re-edited for better image quality and sound remastered for better clearity and stereo imaging. - Nimanty -

Details: See Klaus Schulze using the MiniMoog D-model synthesizer, switching the added white noise off at 6:20.
Next to it, the Moog Micromoog, on which he (at 2:16) adjusts the 'volume', 'filter cutoff', 'release' (to short), 'filter mod by osc' (to strong, then back to off), 'filter mode' (to tone) and finally 'modulation rate', just visible on fading. Enjoy!

  • What's the keyboard between the MicroMoog, MiniMoog and polymoog??

What he uses for the main arpeggiator?

    like this:

    Micromoog, Minimoog

    =============== ??? <which keyboard is that

    Polymoog

  • @M rAJASI, Good question. I've been wondering about it myself.

It must be the controller for the 'Big Moog' (all four modules) as he controls the sequence with it. It also seems to have no synthpanel as both smaller moogs are right on top of it. The controller is a loose part of the 'big moog' patchpanels so the placement seems logical.

  • anyone who knows the exact date of the concert?

  • Dear @samplesmasher,

Different sources suggest the 16th. of January 1977, recorded by WDR, in Cologne.

  • Interesting how this video confirms that so much early synth music was SO dependent on early analog delays. Take away the delay line in this performance, and the whole thing would grind to a halt.

The delay, and simple arpeggiated synth lines that were effected at just the right tempos, were what gave the pieces their rhytmic feel, in lieu of any type of percussion.

In fact, the delay is the star of the show here...

  • @jaypeter666 : very interesting!

  • @ZwolfZki This recording is from 1977 which is quite some time before Daft Punk existed. Besides, Daft Punk cannot be compared with the Master Klaus. They are in different leagues.

  • @steamednotfried : she ? ;-))) I don't know if Klaus did a mistake or an unexpected effect but I'm sure you write a mistake. :-)

  • @MrAJASI It's a budgie-moog...

  • lol, at about 2:35, she made a mistake. She pushed the wrong switch, realised a couple of seconds later, hastily switched the correct one (next to the wrong one) and then tried to cover it up by leaving a slight delay before switching the wrong one back.

  • Excellent quality. Thanks for uploading!

  • as a 17 years old, who loves synthesizers... wow impressive

  • Moog Music bring me here. Just brilliant.

  • I kept on waiting for the bass to drop. I KID.
