Sandra pays Dr Pixie a visit after childbirth five years ago had left her with a pronounced and uncomfortable skin tag on her anus, affecting her sex life and toilet hygiene. Sandra was sent to see consultant Andrew Williams, who after investigation said the problem was deeper than a skin tag. A tear between her vagina and rectum in childbirth had resulted in a rectocele, a pocket of skin where poo was collecting. A surgical procedure and pelvic floor exercises were required to fix the problem. During surgery internal piles were discovered, however a revisit to Dr Pixie assured Sandra that unless the piles were bleeding or very uncomfortable nothing need be done about them.

This new series explores the conditions and ailments that leave many of us a little red-faced and aims to de-stigmatise common complaints.
